Famine in Flames
Day 9 - Time Warp

The day started peacefully enough. Traders awoke, and prepared for
their runs. The Universe has stabilized slightly, and technology
changes in Cloaks and Jump drives have returned them to usefulness
without jeopardizing the fabric of space/time.

Tempus of Willow, who still managed to sneak in some trading during
the cloak outage and the SM/Anla-Willow war, emerged to inspect his
trusty PSF. For the last 5 days, at the height of the war, it has been
parked in the safety of Federal protection. Imagine the expression on
his face. The entire ship was covered from stem to stern with colorful
graffiti. Evidently bored SM/Anla fighters, frustrated at seeing the juicy
target unavailable, had found a way to amuse themselves. As you all
know, the PSF is a BIG ship, with a lot of surface area.

Tempus' muttering was heard sectors away as he began scrubbing.
He did report that Warzone and Blum appeared to be the most
original artists, but fortunately they used inferior quality spray paint,
and their ramblings disappeared without a trace. There was also a
note from Gilgamesh. We use the word 'note' advisedly, because it
covered 500 square meters, and was written in 3 point type with an
indelible pen.

The hunters were also up early, and a long running hunt was
amazingly concluded. Since early in the game, Dude Man has been
hunting Der Blonde Riese. Success came at last.

4/1/99 8:11:50 AM Dude Man killed Der Blonde Riese in sector #658

Dude rushed to the nearest bar to buy a round, and was last seen in
this time line leaning back and scratching happily.

The Unforgiven Cartel awoke, and proceeded to snag two Marine
planets in Livstar.

Accusations continued to fly in the UFoP/UC 'discussion' of the reason
for the current troubles.

And a mysterious message was found announcing the advent of a
new player in the famine universe. A M.A.C. or Multi Alliance Coalition
has evidently been created. Details are unavailable on the
membership, goals, plans, capabilities, or card playing skills of the
members, but we hope to clarify the situation soon.

Then, a catastrophe, a bank collapse. All the money, in all the banks
in all the Space Merchant Universes disappeared. The Manton Reserve
Board began an investigation.

They announced to the Universes that they would solve the problem.
The Universes sighed in relief. Then they announced how, by turning
back time. The universes gasped. Everything that had happened in
this day would be undone.
The hereto-unguessed power of the bank mangers of Space
Merchant became apparent. Fallen Planets would unfall. The Dead
would come to life. All kills would be lost.

The last sound heard in the universes before the implosion was Dude
Man's anguished cries from the bar, as he realized Der Blonde was
back.

Aaaaaahhhhhhhh!

________-----------------zzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZ-T-----------------___________

And the banks were back in business. The money lords of Manton
retired to the country club planet of Manton Prime, and left the
Universes to sort themselves out.

The Marines looked happily on their returned planets.

UC moped.

UFoP pondered why the fates did not let time skip back two days.

Tempus glumly took his bucket and mop back out of the closet.

And Dude Man finished his beer, got in his ship, and with an evil
expression on his face, flew off into the growing new (old?) night.
There was a war to fight after all.

4/1/99 11:41:30 PM Dude Man(UC) killed Lord Wolf1(SM) in sector
#678

A Marine kill is nice, but it won't bring back The Blonde. All traders are
advised to beware, Dude Man is not in a good mood.

The Marines also picked up the war effort. They re-took one of the
Livstar planets that the time warp had not returned.

They sent out scouts, and caught a UC member.

4/2/99 2:18:49 AM Catronia(SM) killed Dread Nought(UC) in sector
#680

Dread grumbled, picked himself up and scooted his pod over to the
ship shop.

After restocking he rejoined the UC fleet, and was sitting happily in
Newbie protection with his feet up on the console.

4/2/99 4:36:03 AM Dread Nought(UC) was killed by forces owned
by Hammurabi(UC) in Sector 680

Another new twist appeared in the rules of the universes, in some
rare cases, newbies are NOT protected when your mates are killing
forces.

Dread grumbled, picked himself up and scooted his pod over to the
ship shop.

And another day, half day?, day and a half?, oh well, day(s) 9 of
Famine in Flames ended.

The SM/UC war still rages, and talks continue under truce between
Willow and Anla'shok for the possible settlement of that conflict.
M.A.C. remains a mystery, and traders are nervously looking over
their shoulders for the Dude.

Tomorrow is another day(s). Who knows what it will bring to Famine,
the Universe in Flames.
